Liliana Hernandez-Constenla joined the department in June 2006. She manages several of the Department’s outreach programs and serves as the point person for media relations, external communications and social media activities. Currently she manages the Golden Ticket Senior Arts Guide program by working with non-profit cultural groups to produce an annual guide that promotes the arts and provides free admission to Miami-Dade County seniors.
Liliana joined the Department as the Cultural Projects Officer for the Tourist Development Council quarterly grant program, which provides funding support for cultural and special events, as wells as sports and television/film projects promoting Miami-Dade County as a tourist destination. She has extensive experience working with major cultural special events and tourism, most recently as the Marketing Manager at the Deering Estate at Cutler, a tourist attraction and cultural heritage site where she spearheaded all audience cultivation, public relations, marekting and advertising initiatives, and served as the liaison to the Greater Miami Conventions and Visitors Bureau.
Previously Liliana worked at the advertising agency of Beber Silverstein Partners in the public relations division, where she managed special event logistics and media relations for McDonald’s Restaurants’ local and national events, including the Lo McXimo de la Musica concert series featuring international “Rock Latino” acts in Orlando and Miami, Florida. She coordinated major local art fairs and expos, including Merrill Lynch Arteamericas, the premier Latin American art fair in Miami, and CubaNostalgia. Liliana also managed local outreach programs such as the Ronald McDonald literacy initiative by developing partnerships with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami-Dade Public Library systems.
A lover of literature and film buff, Liliana studied creative writing, foreign literature and film at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. She has a Masters of Science degree in Mass Communications, specializing in advertising and public relations, and a Bachelors of Arts degree in psychology from Florida International University. Liliana is fully bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish.
