CG Maximum Request (See Guidelines for more info):

• up to $7,500 – First time applicants, one-time cultural events/artistic projects, programs or events
• up to $15,000 – Major, annually recurring projects, programs or events with a total project budget of $150,000 or more and a two-year minimum track record such as festivals and fairs drawing 1,000 people or more per day to the event. Similar events with project budgets under $150,000 may request up to $10,000

The Community Grants (CG) Program is responsive on a quarterly basis to nonprofit organizations developing small and large-scale community-based cultural (dance, theater, music, visual arts) programs, as well as projects and events, such as fairs, parades, neighborhood festivals and publications that have a strong artistic component.

The CG panel considers projects with strong community involvement and/or outreach component. The CG Program is particularly sensitive to the needs of indigenous cultural neighborhood activities and projects encouraging the preservation of heritage, traditions and culture, as well as social service organizations and cultural groups developing collaborative intervention projects using the arts. *Project descriptions are available after funding recommendations are approved by the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners 

First-Time Applicants:

1. Must attend a pre-grant Community Grants-specific workshop in-person or via virtual meeting platform. RSVP here to attend a workshop; AND

2. Schedule an in-person, telephone or virtual consultation with the Program Administrator no later than one week before the deadline. To schedule a consultation, contact Karen Diazgranados at (305) 375-2596 or by email at Karen.Diazgranados@miamidade.gov.

Deadlines:

Courtesy Review Deadline - Returning applicants who submit completed applications, including all required support materials by the Courtesy Review Deadline (one week prior to the Application Deadline) will receive technical comments and corrections.

Application Deadline – Returning applicants who waive their option for a Courtesy Review and submit their applications by the Application Deadline will receive a technical sufficiency review only. 

Requests to apply received at or after 5:00 PM on the program’s final deadline will NOT be accepted.

FIRST-TIME APPLICANTS WHO SUBMIT BY THE FINAL DEADLINE WILL RECEIVE TECHNICAL COMMENTS AND CORRECTIONS AND ARE EXEMPT OF MEETING THE PROGRAM’S COURTESY REVIEW DEADLINE.  For more information about the Courtesy Review policy, please refer to the DEADLINES section of the grant program guidelines.
