CG Maximum Request (See Guidelines for more info):

• $7,500 – First time applicants, one-time cultural events/artistic projects, programs or events
• $10,000 – Major, annually recurring projects, programs or events with a two-year minimum track record such as festivals and fairs drawing 1,000 people or more per day to the event
• $15,000 – Major, annually recurring projects with a two-year minimum track record such as festivals and fairs drawing 1,000 people or more per day to the event with a total project budet of $150,000 or more

FY 2023-2024 Community Grants (CG) Program Guidelines

The Community Grants (CG) Program is responsive on a quarterly basis to nonprofit organizations developing small and large-scale community-based cultural (dance, theater, music, visual arts) programs, as well as projects and events, such as fairs, parades, neighborhood festivals and publications that have a strong artistic component.

The CG panel considers projects with strong community involvement and/or outreach component. The CG Program is particularly sensitive to the needs of indigenous cultural neighborhood activities and projects encouraging the preservation of heritage, traditions and culture, as well as social service organizations and cultural groups developing collaborative intervention projects using the arts. COVID-19 Notice:  Considering the continued uncertainty surrounding the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on public programs, applicants may choose to submit applications that assume in-person public programs and events and/or virtual public activities. If necessary, the Department will continue to exercise appropriate contractual flexibility to allow grantees the presentation of virtual programs and other program delivery strategies to fulfill public presentation requirements.

Deadlines:

Courtesy Review Deadline - Returning applicants who submit completed applications, including all required support materials by the Courtesy Review Deadline (one week prior to the Application Deadline) will receive technical comments and corrections.

Application Deadline – Returning applicants who waive their option for a Courtesy Review and submit their applications by the Application Deadline will receive a technical sufficiency review only. 

Requests to apply received at or after 5:00 PM on the program’s final deadline will NOT be accepted.

FIRST-TIME APPLICANTS WHO SUBMIT BY THE FINAL DEADLINE WILL RECEIVE TECHNICAL COMMENTS AND CORRECTIONS AND ARE EXEMPT OF MEETING THE PROGRAM’S COURTESY REVIEW DEADLINE.  For more information about the Courtesy Review policy, please refer to the DEADLINES section of the grant program guidelines.
