COVID-19 Update and a New Program for Individual Artists

Dear Colleagues,

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced today that the County will return to the mandatory use of face masks in Miami-Dade County buildings:

“Together we made incredible progress in curbing the spread of COVID-19. We must continue to do our part to protect ourselves and one another against the recent resurgence of cases. In addition to requiring the use of masks in County facilities, I urge all members of the Miami-Dade County family to get vaccinated and to get a booster shot when eligible, get tested after exposure or if any symptoms appear, and to remain as proactive as possible through the holiday season. I am confident that by staying focused on these common-sense measures that we know prevent the spread, we will continue moving forward and enter the New Year as a stronger community.”

We will continue to share Mayor Levine Cava’s guidance with you, as we know that you are committed to implementing COVID precautions to help keep audiences, artists, and staff safe.

NEW OPPORTUNTY FOR INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS

Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs receives $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds from the National Endowment for the Arts for a new program for artists

The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs is launching a new program for artists of all disciples. Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts with American Rescue Plan Act funds, the Miami Individual Artists (MIA) Stipend Program provides artistic fees and stipends for the production of performances, presentations, exhibitions, workshops, research, and/or the creation of artwork to individual artists of all disciplines in Miami-Dade County on a competitive basis.

In recognition of the contributions of Miami-Dade’s outstanding artists to the fundamental vitality and creativity of our cultural community, the MIA Stipend Program strongly encourages applications from professional artists of the highest caliber, with a recognized body of original artwork, who are deeply rooted in Miami’s diverse cultural life.
