• Division A - Total Project Budget of $50,000 or less may request up to $5,000 
• Division B - Total Project Budget of $50,001 - $100,000 may request up to $10,000
• Division C - Total Project Budget of $100,001 - $250,000 may request up to $25,000 
• Division D - Total Project Budget of above $250,000 may request up to $35,000

FY 2023-2024 Tourist Development Council (TDC) Grants Program Guidelines

The Tourist Development Council (TDC) Grants Program is responsive on a quarterly basis to organizations/events which promote Miami-Dade County’s appeal as a tourist destination by sponsoring tourist-oriented sports events, cultural and special events (visual and performing arts, including theater, concerts, recitals, opera, dance, art exhibitions, and festivals) and television origination projects. The TDC’s objective in funding events is to attract tourists from outside of Miami-Dade County into the area; encourage overnight stays in Miami-Dade County motels and hotels; and perpetuate an environment for growth in the tourism industry in Miami-Dade County. The TDC investments are focused on further developing exemplary existing programs and stimulating new activities. Applicants not meeting these criteria should consider applications to other Department programs. The TDC will provide priority attention to grant requests for activities and events that serve as major tourism generators in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year (July - September). The TDC, a nine member volunteer advisory board established by Florida Statute Section 125.0104, meets as a panel to review and make funding recommendations to the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners with the idea of developing and enhancing the image of Miami-Dade County locally, nationally and internationally. 

COVID-19 Notice:  The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs announces the relaunch of the Tourist Development Council (TDC) Grants program for FY 2022-2023. Considering the continued uncertainty surrounding the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on public programs, proposals will be evaluated based upon the quality of the application and the ability to satisfactorily address each of the evaluation criteria, as stated in the program guidelines. Applicants may choose to submit applications that assume in-person public programs and events and/or online “virtual” public activities. The Department will continue to assess the feasibility of presenting public programs in traditional venues and performing spaces and if necessary, will continue to exercise appropriate contractual flexibility to allow grantees the presentation of virtual programs and other program delivery strategies to fulfill public presentation requirements.

Mandatory Pre-Application Requirements:  All applicants must attend a TDC Specific Workshop to review program requirements, eligibility criteria and other program-specific information. Workshops will also cover user registration and navigation of SurveyMonkey Apply (SMA), the Department's on-line grants management system. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING DEADLINES:

Courtesy Review: Returning applicants will have the option to submit a completed application, including all required support materials, no later than one full calendar week in advance of the grant program’s published application deadline, to receive a thorough “Courtesy Review” by the Program Administrator providing technical comments and corrections.

Application Deadline: Returning applicants who waive their option for a Courtesy Review and submit their applications by the grant program’s published deadline will receive a technical sufficiency review only.

First-Time Applicants: Applications received from first-time applicants by the grant program’s published application deadline will be reviewed by the Program Administrator and are exempt of meeting the program’s Courtesy Review deadline.

FY 2023-2024 TDC Calendar of Dates and Deadlines

Applicants may choose to, or be asked to address the Tourist Development Council. In accordance with Section 2-11.1(s) of the Code of Miami-Dade County, the TDC Lobbyist Affidavit must be completed, notarized and included with your application. The term “lobbyist” specifically includes the principal, as well as any agent, officer or employee of a principal, regardless of whether such lobbying activities fall within the normal scope of employment of such agent, officer or employee. Individuals substituted for or added to the presentation team after submittal of the proposal and filing by staff, MUST register with the Miami-Dade County Clerk of the Board (Form BCCFORM2DOC) and pay all applicable fees.
