Pauline Winick has been a driving force in shaping Miami-Dade County’s cultural landscape. As Chair of the Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs Council, she played a key role in advancing cultural policy during Michael Spring’s early tenure as Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs. She served as Communications Director and key advisor to then Metro-Dade County Manager Merrett R. Stierheim before helping bring professional basketball to the community as Executive Vice President of the NBA’s Miami Heat. At Florida International University, she led marketing for major cultural and sporting events, including the Miami International Film Festival and the Golden Panthers football program. Winick served on the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, helping develop a cultural master plan that supported cultural anchors, including the Miami City Ballet, for which she was a founding board member and the Miami-Dade Library Trust. She continues to serve as a Carbonell Awards judge, recognizing excellent theater in the South Florida region.
