A native of South Florida, Asley Sniffen joined the Arts Education, Access & Engagement team in 2025 as Program Manager of Culture Shock Miami and as the administrator of the Youth Arts Miami (YAM) Grants Program. In addition to her work in arts administration and education, Ashley is an art historian fluent in French, specializing in modern art across urban centers in the Eastern USA and Europe. She is particularly interested in Abstract Expressionism, cultural ecology, and South Florida art history.

 

Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in History of Art and Honors in French & Francophone Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and a Master of Arts with Distinction from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. Ashley has worked in Philadelphia, New York City, London, West Palm Beach, and Miami to develop cultural programs, curatorial projects, and educational initiatives in art museums, universities, and college settings, some of which include The School of The New York Times, Sotheby's Institute of Art, The Barnes Foundation, the Institute of Contemporary Art Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Norton Museum of Art. Ashley has over six years of experience as a copy editor for academic publications and literary translations which have been published by institutions including Oxford University Press, University of Pennsylvania Press, and Getty Publications.

 

Prior to joining the Department of Cultural Affairs, Ashley returned to South Florida from London to build and direct the Museum Studies Program at Miami Dade College, the first Certification program of its kind in South Florida and also served as a Professor of Museum Studies and Art Appreciation courses. With accessibility to the arts at the forefront of her professional interests, she is passionate about creating community experiences which heighten opportunities within the arts for people throughout Miami Dade County.
