Sherwood “Woody” and Judy Weiser

A powerful arts duo, Sherwood M. (Woody) and Judy Weiser, were at the forefront of the cultural growth of Miami-Dade County, investing their time, treasure and talent in establishing world-class arts here in Miami. A philanthropist and civic leader, Woody Weiser was among the visionaries who made possible the development of Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. He served as Chairman of the Center’s Foundation from 1992 until 2008 and was then named Chairman Emeritus. He remained engaged in Center affairs until his passing. Woody had been a Trustee of the University of Miami since 1988 and, in 2003, became a Life Trustee. Additionally, he served as Chairman for the New World Symphony and Chairman of the Ransom Everglades School Board of Trustees. Judy Weiser served as Chair and as a member of the New World Symphony and Coconut Grove Playhouse Board of Directors. Known for her impeccable taste and elegance, Judy Weiser has helped raise millions of dollars for the nonprofit arts community through her charitable work, chairing galas and hosting special fundraising events. She also served as a board member for the Miami Art Museum beginning in 1986, continued with the Pérez Art Museum Miami, and began her board membership with the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in 1994. Woody and Judy Weiser’s legacy lives on in the many cultural institutions they supported and nurtured for the benefit of South Florida.
