MOAD Moves: Salsa Workshop with Michelle Gonzalez de la Cruz

Join us in the Freedom Tower's Knight Skylight Gallery for MOAD Moves: Salsa Workshop with Michelle Gonzalez de la Cruz. In this beginner-friendly class, instructor de la Cruz will teach attendees the fundamentals of salsa footwork and timing. Once everyone is comfortable with the basics, the class will then enjoy putting it all together, practicing the moves in a fun and supportive environment. Perfect for all ages, the class is open to the public and free to attend. Attendees may park for free at MDC's Parking Lot 1, located on the south side of the Freedom Tower. Register here.

Hip Hop Recognition Month Mural Celebration and Proclamation Ceremony

Mural Installation Schedule
The mural installation is expected to take place throughout August 2026 and be completed in September 2026. The mural in progress will be presented during the August 30 proclamation event, with final installation work continuing afterward as needed.
Event Description
Fine Art of Hip Hop will host a public celebration recognizing Hip Hop Recognition Month. The event will feature the presentation of an official proclamation, the unveiling of the mural installation, recognition of participating artists, and community engagement celebrating Hip Hop culture, public art, and local creative expression.
Rain Plan
The event will proceed as scheduled if weather conditions permit. In the event of heavy rain, severe weather, or unsafe conditions, the event may be postponed or relocated. An updated announcement will be shared through Fine Art of Hip Hop’s website and social media channels.
Parking and Transportation
Street parking and nearby public parking options may be available in the Wynwood area. Attendees are encouraged to allow extra time for parking, consider rideshare or public transportation, and avoid blocking driveways, sidewalks, loading zones, or neighboring businesses.

Event Description

Land, Text, Light: Out of the Vault continues a series of exhibitions for Miami Dade College’s campus galleries that highlight works from the Museum of Art and Design’s collection. Some of these works are rarely seen, while others have been featured in recent exhibitions. The works by painter Lynne Golob Gelfman and multimedia artist Xaviera Simmons are recent donations to the collection, and Out of the Vault marks the first time the college presents these works in their galleries.
The five artists featured in this exhibition are Lynne Golob Gelfman, Pat Lipsky, Emilio Sanchez, Xaviera Simmons, and Purvis Young. Each of these American artists produced distinctive bodies of work that allow for rumination on the human condition. Whether it be work that represents land or evokes land, compositions that literally present text or conjure unique storytelling, or art that considers visual perception and how light and color coalesce, this exhibition invites unexpected dialogue about American art.
