In order to ensure public health in response to the health threat of Coronavirus (COVID-19), effective immediately, Friday, March 13, the following County facilities will be closed:
Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County
Miami-Dade County Auditorium
South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center
Miami-Dade County is considering a more comprehensive list of arts, cultural and community venues and indoor gathering places that may be required to close.
Dear Colleagues,
Mayor Carlos Gimenez has declared a state of emergency for Miami-Dade County regarding the health threat of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Guidance Regarding Arts and Cultural Activities
As of this advisory, arts and cultural organizations should make decisions regarding activities and events based on their best assessment of their impact on public health. Mayor Gimenez will make future policy decisions regarding indoor events planned for more than 250 people based on federal and state health officials’ guidance.

The Appellate Division of the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit has set a new date to hear oral arguments for Miami-Dade County’s petition appealing the City of Miami Mayor’s veto of the County’s application for a final Certificate of Appropriateness for the Coconut Grove Playhouse project:

We have received a number of inquiries and understand the public concern about the Coronavirus. This message is intended to provide you with helpful information about the current health status of this disease. It also provides tips on how the cultural community can both assure audiences with reliable information and help work to prevent transmission of this virus and any respiratory disease (for example, the flu).
The February 3, 2020 date has been postponed by the Appellate Division of the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit for oral arguments regarding Miami-Dade County’s petition appealing the City of Miami Mayor’s veto of the County’s application for a final Certificate of Appropriateness for the Coconut Grove Playhouse project. A new date for the hearing has not yet been announced.
