On August 9, 2021, Miami-Dade County filed its response to the City of Miami’s appeal in the Coconut Grove Playhouse case to the Third District Court of Appeal after losing their case in the Appellate Division of the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. The City of Miami obtained an extension until August 24, 2021 to respond to the County’s cross petition.

On June 3, 2021, the Appellate Division of the Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit denied the City of Miami’s motion for a rehearing, leaving in place its ruling overturning the City of Miami Mayor’s veto of the County’s final historic preservation Certificate of Appropriateness for the Coconut Grove Playhouse project.
