News to Use: 2018-2019 Fall Grants Cycle and Staff Updates

Dear Cultural Colleagues,

Please note the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs has released the fall cycle of our fiscal year 2018-2019 arts and cultural grants programs available to Miami-Dade County based non-profit cultural groups.

I am delighted to share that we have two new staff members that have joined the team at the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. Katherine Revell is the new Projects Administrator for the Summer Arts & Science Camps for Kids Program (revell@miamidade.gov; 305-375-5830). Graham Winick is the new Projects Administrator for the Community Grants Program (winick@miamidade.gov; 305-375-2523). Please join me in welcoming them!

Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs announces workshop schedules and application deadlines for the 2018-2019 Community Grants (CG), Tourist Development Council (TDC), Summer Arts & Science Camps for Kids (SAS-C) and Audience Access (AUD) Grant Programs

Workshop and deadline schedules for the fiscal year 2018-2019 fall cycle of tourism and cultural grants programs for Miami-Dade County based non-profit cultural groups are now available. Guidelines containing information regarding eligibility requirements, funding requests and other detailed program criteria can be downloaded at www.miamidadearts.org by clicking GRANTS / GRANTS FOR ORGANIZATIONS. Grant guidelines can also be requested by calling the Department of Cultural Affairs at (305) 375-4634, or via email at culture@miamidade.gov.

Beginning with the 2018-2019 cycle, grant program applications and supporting documentation will be submitted via the cloud-based, online grants management platform, SurveyMonkey Apply (formerly known as FluidReview) at www.miamidadearts.smapply.oi.

Interested applicants for the following programs should attend the mandatory pre-application grant workshops.

QUARTERLY GRANT PROGRAMS

Community Grants Program (CG)

A quarterly program for non-profit organizations developing small to medium scale community-based cultural programs, projects and events, such as fairs, parades, neighborhood festivals, conferences and publications.

Tourist Development Grants Program (TDC)

A quarterly program which provides support to significant cultural and/or special events, including sports activities and television/film origination projects that promote Miami-Dade County’s appeal as a tourist destination. Activities must be able to stimulate tourism and have significant media impact for Miami-Dade County.

YOUTH ARTS PROGRAM

Summer Arts and Science Camps for Kids Grants Program (SAS-C)

This annual program helps non-profit organizations provide underserved children in Miami-Dade County with opportunities to attend high quality cultural arts and science summer camp programs at little or no cost. Funding is intended to supplement established, high quality programs, providing more children with the opportunity to participate in cultural arts and science summer camps.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

Audience Access Grants Program (AUD)

Provides funding to help pay for arts program ADA/access technology and services, such as American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, captioning, audio description, materials in accessible format, ADA/access training, and other such services to ensure programmatic access for audiences of all abilities. This program is not intended to provide assistance in funding capital/facilities projects or improvements, such as construction, renovation or major equipment purchases.

Applications for this program are accepted on a year-round basis, subject to the availability of funds.  Funding is limited and eligible projects will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.  Funded projects are paid on a reimbursement basis.
